Happy Summer! This month we had an amazing turnout for our first garage sale, celebrated pride month, and began planning our next big sale. We also secured our first small grant, added more ways to donate, and explored options for business strategy volunteers.

A Message From Our Director

Hello everyone!
Thanks to you and our other supporters we’ve made great progress in our fundraising efforts.

We have seven brand new Patrons, mostly falling in the $20 tier - which is extremely helpful for covering monthly costs.

Thanks our first garage sale and our first corporate sponsor, Sam’s Club, our fundraising totals are topping $4,000!

Unfortunately, we have experienced a theft in materials we were also counting on for additional funding, so trying our best to not let this impact our overall progress.

Garage Sale #2!

Our first garage sale was a huge success! Thank you to all our donors, volunteers, and shoppers that helped us raise money for the animals.

GARAGE SALE ITEMS NEEDED FOR AUGUST

Wild Whiskers and All Creatures Deserving are collecting gently used items you no longer need in order to raise money towards the animals in our care.

We are also seeking local businesses that want to partner up for the sale in exchange for promotion as part of our advertisement for the sale. It could be handcrafted items, plants, honey, their own merch, beverages / snacks for the lemonade stand, a gift certificate for a service they provide, etc…

And if you could do us a favor and share this on your neighborhood Facebook page that would be amazing!

Meet Angelique

Volunteer since: April 2023

Favorite Animal: “I have fallen so deeply in love with opossums, especially babies. I go out of my way to check any opossums that have been hit by a car to ensure there are no babies to be saved.”

What do you like about volunteering: “I feel extremely blessed to get to know wildlife on a deeper level. Helping any creatures get a second chance is well worth taking the time to do it. Beyond working with animals, I’ve made amazing friends working with ACD. It is nice to engage with people with the same values.”

Fun Fact : “I own a renovated school bus that I travel around the country in with my two cats, Wormwood and Mugwort.”

Creature Feature

Henry
Species: Red Squirrel
Age: About 7 weeks
History: ACD received Henry’s company as a wee tiny baby after tragedy struck his home.
Status: Typically squirrels are released at about 3 months. Henry is on track for this.
Fun Fact: He likes to snuggle with our rehabber, Jenny. Not all squirrels enjoy such lovin’

Fun Facts about Woodchucks

The woodchuck is the largest member of the squirrel family.

Woodchucks are also known as groundhogs or “mouse bears”.

Although a woodchuck doesn’t really chuck wood, it can chuck about 700 pounds of dirt a day.
